Privacy Policy — DayBuddy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Rathi Apps (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the DayBuddy mobile application for Android (“DayBuddy”, the “App”) and our website.

Your day is yours. DayBuddy is architected around on-device privacy principles. The application is designed to be fully useful without transmitting your personal daily timetable, activity details, or detailed app browsing records to remote servers.

By installing or using DayBuddy, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information DayBuddy Handles

DayBuddy interacts with two broad categories of data:

Local Behavioral & Planning Data: Information generated when you build schedules and use your device. This data is handled primarily locally on your Android device.
Technical & Account Service Data: Minimal diagnostics, crash logs, and Google Play purchase entitlement verification records required to deliver and maintain stable software services.

3. App Usage Information

To provide real-time companion awareness, continuous usage detection, and plan conflict nudges, DayBuddy queries Android system APIs to observe which application is currently in the foreground.

Foreground app events and session durations are evaluated directly on the device by the local companion engine.
DayBuddy does not read inside your third-party apps, access keystrokes, intercept screen content, or read chat messages.
Raw application usage logs are not synchronized to an external behavioral database or sold to third parties.

4. Planning and Activity Information

When you create daily activities, schedule focus blocks, customize activity labels, or mark an activity as “My plan changed,” this planning information is stored in local storage on your device. You can clear or update your schedule at any time within the application.

5. Permissions and Device Capabilities

DayBuddy requests only capabilities necessary for chosen features. Android permissions are never mandatory for using the base timetable planner:

Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Enables DayBuddy to detect foreground applications for live intervention nudges and continuous session tracking.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Enables the Buddy companion to visually peek into the screen or display interaction dialogs over other applications.
Post Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Delivers timely reminders when planned focus blocks start or when daily reflections are ready.

6. Buddy / Character Data

Your choice of Buddy character, unlocked companion packs, and presentation preferences are stored locally and, where applicable for cross-device license entitlement verification, linked to your authenticated user account via Firebase Firestore.

7. Analytics

DayBuddy uses privacy-preserving technical diagnostics to monitor overall application health, onboarding completion rates, and system stability. Analytics data is aggregated and does not include your schedule content or detailed personal browsing histories.

8. Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose software defects and unexpected exceptions. When a crash occurs, Crashlytics collects anonymous device diagnostic information such as device model, OS version, system memory state, and technical stack traces.

9. Firebase Services

The DayBuddy backend utilizes Google Firebase infrastructure (including Cloud Functions, Firestore, and Cloud Storage):

Purchase Verification: Google Play subscription and one-time companion unlock tokens are validated authoritatively via Firebase Cloud Functions.
Entitlement Registry: Authoritative purchase state is maintained in Firestore under strict security rules that prevent unauthorized client modification.
Companion Delivery: Published Buddy asset packages are distributed securely from Firebase Storage.

10. Advertising

DayBuddy is not an advertising-funded product. We do not sell your personal behavioral data, daily schedules, or phone-usage habits to advertisers or ad broker networks.

11. Data Retention

Local planning and session logs are retained on your device according to your local history settings. Technical telemetry and crash reports are retained on Firebase infrastructure for standard diagnostic timeframes (typically up to 90 days).

12. Data Deletion

You have full control over your data:

On-Device Data: Uninstalling DayBuddy or using Android Settings → Apps → DayBuddy → Clear Storage immediately deletes all local timetable records, settings, and cached assets.
Account & Entitlements Deletion: In compliance with Google Play standards, users can request complete deletion of their account and associated data via in-app settings (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or directly through our web request form at DayBuddy Account Deletion Page.

13. Children's Privacy

DayBuddy is a general-audience productivity application and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

14. Third-Party Services

The application connects to trusted third-party service providers solely to enable essential functions:

Google Play Services: Core billing, license verification, and app updates.
Google Cloud / Firebase: Secure backend functions, crash reporting, and asset hosting.

15. Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. All backend communications utilize encrypted Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Server-side entitlements are guarded by non-repudiation security rules.

16. Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product enhancements or legal obligations. When changes are published, the effective date at the top of this document will be updated. Continued use of DayBuddy after revisions indicates acceptance.
